Cool Underfoot
Unlike traditional paving materials like concrete or pavers, Porous Paving is designed to resist cracking from extreme temperature changes throughout the year. The small air pockets within the paving allow it to expand and contract naturally, preventing the cracks commonly seen in concrete or ceramic tiles.
Furthermore, you are far less likely to burn your feet on Porous Paving during those hot summer days as you might do when stepping on concrete or tiles, making for a far more enjoyable and less painful experience around the poolside!
Durable & Easy-To-Repair!
Porous Paving is designed to last. Most systems can last upward of 20-40 years before showing signs of wear such as cracking or clogging. One way to extend the life of your paving is to regularly rinse away sediment so that it is less likely to build up and clog the surface.
Porous Paving is as durable as concrete and if damaged still maintains its appeal! If any substantial wear or damage occurs repairs require very little effort to fix as it can simply be filled in and resealed within minutes, making it not only more convenient to fix but also cheaper than having to replace an entire paver!
Understanding Maintenance
While Porous Paving is relatively low-maintenance, it does require more attention than nonporous surfaces. Accumulation of dirt and sediment can clog the spaces between the aggregate, reducing its permeability and potentially leading to water pooling.
To keep it functioning properly, annual maintenance is recommended. Consult your installer to determine whether rinsing with a garden hose is sufficient or if a more thorough pressure washing is needed. If using a pressure washer, be cautious not to apply excessive force, as this can damage the surface.
