How Soft fall surfaces helps keep your children safe!
Playgrounds should be a safe space for children to play in and enjoy the freedom that comes with being young and full of energy, providing the opportunity for children to explore, socialize and to develop themselves in a safe and friendly environment. However, sometimes accidents happen, which is why it’s so important to place a heavy emphasis on safety when we build these child-orientated playgrounds. These environments need to be both safe and sustainable no matter the weather or activity and innovative surface solutions might just change the game!
Soft fall is a surface material designed to reduce the impact force and potential damage of falls, providing a safer environment where children are liable to fall. Soft fall can come in a variety of different forms, ranging from rubber mats and tiles to poured-in-place rubber that is both seamless and flexible and is often made in colourful patterns, making it ideal for playgrounds and outdoor spaces. Unlike traditional rubber soft surfacing that lack any passive filtration systems, our porous soft fall material prevents the formation of puddles and creates an exceptionally strong anti-slip surface which further improves the level of safety it provides. Our porous soft fall surfacing material is fully up to code with all current Australian standards, including AS/NZS 4422 that lays out the legal requirements for impact surfaces used in playgrounds. Our adherence to these standards also include the testing of the product after being laid to ensure they meet these necessary requirements to keep children safer in these environments.
Not only does soft fall help reduce or prevent the risk of injury, it’s also incredibly durable which makes it ideal for use within outside spaces such as playgrounds that are subject to extreme amounts of both human and environmental wear and tear. Porous soft fall can, unlike cheaper surfacing options such as those often referred to as ‘loose fill’ (mulch, sand or woodchip) is that the surface needs almost no maintenance and although more expensive when first laid, it will often outlive other surfacing options including both solid and ‘loose fill’ options.

Ensuring playground safety is essential and using our high-quality, porous soft fall surfacing offers a reliable, long-term solution. Not only does it reduce the risk of injury and meet Australian safety standards but its durability, low maintenance, and high weather tolerance make it a superior choice over traditional rubber or loose-fill surfaces. Soft fall surfacing is creating a safer and more resilient play space for children to grow and learn in fun and challenging environments.
